Visitor Information:
Seaside

Seaside was Oregon’s first seashore resort and remains a popular –and world class– vacation and weekend destination, a place to build sand castles with your kids or dream of castles in our clean air.  Everything is within walking distance and most places are wheelchair accessible, which makes it easy for all to explore.

Ocean, rivers and mountains merge to create a natural wonderland for outdoor activities. Sunset beach walks, fireplaces and ocean views, breakfast in bed, heavenly chocolates, intimate dining or an evening paddle boat ride on the river are romantic treats for lovers.  Galleries, movies, music and fine dining add spice to your visit. Amusements, arcades and the shopping will entertain everyone in the family. It’s all more than just a day at the beach.

Seaside is home to the oldest aquarium on the West Coast, founded in 1937. The underwater areas take you into a fascinating world of unusual and rare life forms. The family of seals is a spirited bunch, each with its own personality and routines to attract attention. At Seaside Aquarium, going off the deep end has never been so much fun!

Just offshore from Tillamook Head, and visible from Seaside, Tillamook Rock Lighthouse is one of the Pacific coast’s most fascinating lighthouses.  Sitting atop an island of rock, the Tillamook Rock Lighthouse was completed in 1881 to guide ships approaching the Columbia River past the dangerous headland.
